You are right! The call for abstracts in November will primarily be based on the thematic panel proposals accepted by the TCN Scientific Members. However, we also welcome all other papers related to care issues and our 2027 conference themes—these will be categorized under “Others.” Please check the website for details on the themes.
You are welcome to submit more than one! For example, you can submit a symposium or thematic panel proposal before September 15th, and also submit an abstract for a thematic panel in November.
It will not exceed €350. In fact, if we secure additional funding from government agencies, universities, and fundations, the registration fee could be even lower.
Once the symposium proposal is accepted by the Scientific Members of TCN, the organizers will leave that decision up to the convener. So yes, you may either proceed with 3 authors or find a substitute author.
Both are very welcome! All proposals and abstracts will go through a review process (abstracts submitted in November will be reviewed by the conveners of each thematic panel).
Conveners can definitely be presenters. However, the Discussant should not be a presenter, as the main idea is to have an external perspective.
A Symposium focuses on a specific theme, with the paper authors already identified in advance. It may include up to four named paper authors, and the convener(s) should also identify one or two discussants.
A Thematic Panel, by contrast, proposes a broader theme related to the themes of the 2027 TCC, without identifying paper authors in advance. A Thematic Panel may have up to three conveners. After Thematic Panel proposals have been reviewed and accepted by members of the Scientific Committee of the Transforming Care Network (TCN), the Call for Abstracts will open. Researchers, practitioners, and students who are interested in participating in the 2027 TCC will then be invited to submit their abstracts to one of the accepted Thematic Panels (approximately 20 panels, including an “Other” category). The convener(s) of each Thematic Panel will review the submitted abstracts and select up to four papers for their panel session. In other words, if you are a convener of a Thematic Panel, you will also serve as a reviewer of the abstracts submitted to your panel.
Please note: If a Thematic Panel receives a large number of high-quality abstracts, it may be allocated more than one session at the upcoming TCC.
In short, if you already have the papers and presenters confirmed, please submit a Symposium proposal.
If you would like to propose a theme and invite researchers to submit abstracts through the Call for Abstracts, please submit a Thematic Panel proposal.
All Symposium and Thematic Panel proposals will undergo a review process conducted by members of the TCN Scientific Committee.
